8/16: The Man, The Myth, The Legend

THE MAN IS INVENTIVE: Our second favorite Ninja Turtle was named for our first place finisher in the "Best Renaissance Man" competition. Can you guess? Yep, it's good old Leonardo da Vinci whose work -- both artistic and mechanical -- is currently on display at the Fort Worth Museum of Nature and Science. We're big fans of the exhibit that lets you actually turn the crank of some of da Vinci's far-ahead-of-their-time innovations, plus the exhibit is totally Tom Hanks free. Exhibit is included with general admission and runs through September 6.

THE BULL IS THE MYTH: Made from bull testicles? Nope -- Red Bull actually contains no substances of animal origin. To enjoy the drink without the jitters, though, you'll have to get your meaty self to the Galleria Dallas for the "Art of the Can Dallas Exhibition." Visual artists have turned to the can itself for inspiration, creating sculptures, paintings, and other pieces. Check out a few of the pieces at the official website, then get out to see the real stuff while doing your Back To School shopping.

THE DEAL IS LEGENDARY: Don't be surprised if a host or hostess laughs at you when you call to make a dinner reservation this week -- they're likely overbooked and stuffed to the gills due to KRLD's Restaurant Week. Over 130 restaurants offer three-course fixed price meals for only $35 this week, so the legendary deal traditionally attracts everyone under the sun to make plans to get out of the sun at places like Fearing's, Abacus, and many, many, many more. So many, in fact, our events calendar looks like it has been taken over by the happening. Seriously, check it out.
