8/11: Audience Participation

Tonight's your time to think back, holla back or just kick back

WE ALL JUST WANNA HAVE FUN: Cyndi Lauper burst onto the world stage as the quintessential girl who wants to have fun...but every guy we know remembers her Goonies contribution just a little better. After more than 20 sterling years and global record sales in excess of 25 million, she has proven that she has the heart and soul to keep her legion of fans compelled by her every creative move. With her newly minted collection, "Bring Ya To The Brink," Cyndi firmly asserts her position as one of the most beguiling, innovative, and downright exciting recording artists of this — and any other — generation. Come relive the memories tonight at the House of Blues at 8:00 p.m.

HATER OF THE YEAR: Are you a mean person? A spiteful person with the ability to spit hot fire back in the face of someone who is brave enough to face their worst fears, get up onto a stage and try to make you laugh? If so come down to the Dallas Comedy House tonight for a  totally free night with tons of improvisers from the DFW area. No experience required! Come polish up your improv chops with us, or just sit back and enjoy the free show and ridiculously cheap drinks! Improv works both ways in these situations, and don't you forget it! 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

FAVORITE SON: A twenty-year veteran of the stage and studio, Rick Yost has performed for audiences from New York City to Pensacola, Boston to New Orleans, Honolulu to Little Rock, Austin to Brussels, Belgium. Rick won the Wildflower Songwriting Contest in 2000, and continues to wow audiences in his hometown of Dallas where tonight he will be performing at Pearl At Commerce with his band The Sofakings. He's been asked to open for B.W. Stevenson, Geoff Bartley, Jack Williams, Kinky Friedman, Robert Earl Keene, Ray Wylie Hubbard, 'Bugs' Henderson, and more. His song, "New Orleans In The Rain" was chosen for the Texas Songwriter Compilation CD, "Moments Of Grace" alongside such greats as Sarah Hickman and Billy Joe Shaver. Show starts at 8.
