12/25-12/26: Music Makes The Holiday Go Round

Trees, Billy Bob's and HOB are hot spots this holiday weekend

YULETIDE CHEER: After you’ve spent a little QT with the fam, opened presents, stuffed your face -- get out of the house and head on down to Trees for a holiday mosh pit spectacular. Some of North Texas’ best punk rock acts will hit the stage beginning at 8 p.m. Hear Denton natives Riverboat Gamblers, Deep Ellum greats Hagfish and Dallas’s own The American Fuse spread some Christmas cheer Saturday night on Elm Street. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.

‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE COUNTRY: Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth won’t stop booking gigs, even on Christmas. The honky-tonk haven has the Casey Donahew Band lined up to play a few ditties for all you holiday two-steppers, and the Jay Michaels house band will entertain the crowd until the main event. Show starts at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $20.

SUNDAY ROCKN’ OUT: The House of Blues Dallas hosts a night of pop/rock cool for students, by students. Bring the whole family and your holiday A-game to the “For Those About To Rock Holiday Student Concert” on Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. The concert celebrates the art of rock as played by young rockers in the making. Tickets are $10 to $15. Doors open at 3 p.m. For those who want to stick around for more music, catch Holy Moly with The Dan Family and Frontier Brothers at 7 p.m. in the Cambridge Room. Tickets are $10 to $13.
