12/17: Larger Than Life

BIG ELF: What's better than watching elf giant Will Ferrell discover America? Watching elf giant Will Ferrell discover America on a two-story, inflatable movie screen outdoors at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm. Oh, and bring extra blankets: our weatherperson is predicting a snowfall near the screening area. Elf starts at 6:30PM.

BOLD KIDS: They were humiliated in front of their classmates for speaking Spanish or eating Mexican food on campus. Instead of trading hate for hate, Mexican American students at Crystal City High School channeled all the hurt and frustration into a peaceful walkout in 1969 that caused a ripple of response across the nation and a tidal wave of immediate change in the town. Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the stand they took with Crystal City 1969, a play by David Lozano and Raul Trevino. Presented by Cara Mia Theatre at the Latino Culural Center in Dallas. 8:15PM. Find tickets here.

MASSIVE CHEER: An extravaganza of Christmas spirit at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Cheer! A Christmas Celebration doesn't stop with a kids' choir, the DSO musicians, the Dallas Symphony Chorus and Santa Claus himself. There's a toy drive for Central Dallas Ministries' Roseland Community and the International Rescue Committee as a prelude. Only new, unwrapped gifts need be dropped off before the show. Check out this preview video at Pegasus News. 7:30PM.
