11/8: Acrobats in a Bon Jovi Nation

Contortionism takes over Fort Worth, while Bon Jovi plays nationwide theaters

ACROBATIC ART: For the Golden Dragon Acrobats, contortionism is their thing along with a bit of Vegas-style production. The troupe of Chinese acrobats bend, swoop, balance things on their heads/arms/feet and pile onto tricycles. The acrobats perform the 25-century-old tradition, perfected since they were children, in elaborate costumes and add a dose of twists, a la Siegfried and Roy. The Chinese artists fly through Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth tonight at 6:30 p.m.

JOVI GROOVE: Bon Jovi really thinks he’s hot stuff – showing his sold-out concert in more than 550 movie theaters throughout the country. For one night only, Bon Jovi: The Circle Tour gives fans across the nation a chance to see the Jersey boy live in action performing work from the band’s 2009 album. Click here for a list of all participating movie theaters – take your pick of theaters with all Jovi showings happening at 7:30 p.m. throughout the Metroplex

NILE MYSTERY: For centuries explorers have been captivated by the world’s greatest and deadliest river. Join the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History on an expedition down the mighty river at “Mystery of the Nile.” Documenting the Pasquale Scaturro and Gordon Brown’s first splashing adventure down the 3,260 miles of water. Experience their encounters with sandstorms, violent rapids, deadly animals, militia, bandits and exposure to harsh heat – all documented through video. Relive the adventure daily at the Omni Theater through Jan., 2011.
