Expect bumper to bumper traffic along I-35 south of Hillsboro because of a bridge demolition.
The construction project that will help widen I-35 around Hillsboro will lead to some gridlock next week.
On Monday night, February 9, and Tuesday night February 9, crews will remove a bridge over I-35 just south of Hillsboro.
The bridge demolition will involve closing the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 from 7p.m. to 7a.m.
Here is a look at how the traffic will be diverted off of the interstate.
Monday, February 9
- Northbound IH35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at Exit 367(Old Bynum Road) then back to the interstate at the next entrance north of FM 3267.
- Southbound IH35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at Exit 368A (SH 22) then back to the interstate at the next entrance south of FM 3267.
Tuesday, February 10
- Northbound IH35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at Exit 367(Old Bynum Road) then back to the interstate at the next entrance north of FM 3267.
- Southbound travel lanes will be unaffected.
The bridge demolition is part of a $65 million project to add lanes in both directions of I-35.
The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010.
The bridge demolition could be delayed if there is bad weather.
