Most of us look forward to receiving gifts over the holidays; however, many North Texas children and seniors are not so fortunate. That’s why NBC 5 and the Salvation Army invite you to purchase a new gift for a needy child, senior citizen or disabled adult during the NBC 5 Salvation Army Angel Tree program.

The Angel Tree program provides an opportunity for the personal touch as shoppers can select an angel from a tree at an area mall. Each angel tag provides the name, age, gender, clothing sizes and special needs and wishes of a needy child, senior or disabled adult.

Caring individuals may select one or more of the angels from the Angel Tree by Sunday, December 13, then purchase gifts from the list and return the unwrapped gifts to the Angel Tree by Monday, December 14. Donors may purchase the need, the wish, or both.

The NBC 5 Salvation Army Angel Tree program will provide Christmas gifts to more than 55,000 needy people in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton and Ellis counties.

Join us for the official kick-off of Angel Tree at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 27 at NorthPark Center in Dallas. Children and parents are invited to march with NBC 5's Mike Snyder and a Salvation Army brass band in a festive, indoor parade through the mall that will end at the Angel Tree.
