Over the years, Scott's assignments have taken him around the world. He reported from a U.S. aircraft carrier during “Operation Enduring Freedom” in Afghanistan.  He covered American military exercises on the Kuwait-Iraq border in the weeks leading up to the war in Iraq, and interviewed wounded soldiers receiving treatment at U.S. medical facilities in Germany.

In the "battleground" state of Wisconsin, Scott covered the 2004 Presidential race. He reported from the Republican National Convention in New York City, and the final presidential debate in Tempe, Arizona. That same year, he covered the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan in Washington D.C.

Scott has received four Chicago Regional Emmy Award nominations for news writing, hard news reporting and coverage of a breaking story. He's been recognized with awards for investigative reporting from The Milwaukee Press Club (three for best investigative report), The Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association (three for best hard news story) and The Associated Press of Wisconsin.

Friedman graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1994, where he was a double major in Communication and Government.
