David Finfrock is the NBC 5 Weather Team chief meteorologist and can be seen weekdays on NBC 5 First at Four, 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m.

Finfrock was honored by the Dallas Press Club with a Katie Award for Best Weathercast in Texas. Finfrock was also honored with the Fort Worth Star Telegram’s Viewers Choice Award for Best Meteorologist. He has also been honored as a finalist for Emmy and Katie Awards for the work that he did as a documentary host. In both 2006 and 2007, Finfrock was awarded an Emmy for the weather special, "Tracking Texas Weather." He was also awarded a second "Silver Circle" Emmy award for his over 32 years of on-air work.

Finfrock joined NBC 5 in 1975 as a meteorologist after spending time as a field researcher on the Juneau Icefield Research Program in Alaska. He graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology and also completed some graduate work while at Texas A&M.

He is a professional member of the American Meteorology Society and is also a member of the Advisory Board at the Center for Greater Southwestern Studies at University of Texas Arlington. He is also an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and delivers Meals on Wheels every month.

In his spare time, Finfrock enjoys participating in walks and runs for various charitable organizations. David enjoys camping, traveling, gardening, genealogy, and antique maps. He is also an avid nature conservationist.

Finfrock and his wife, Shari, have two children, Jennifer and Ryan. He also has two grandchildren, Lauren and Emily, whom he delights in spoiling at every opportunity.
