Ashanti Blaize

Ashanti Blaize joins NBC 5 from KLAS in Las Vegas where she served as an anchor and reporter under the neon lights of the strip. Before that, she reported with KFOX in El Paso and got her start at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s broadcast news unit as a field producer.

Ashanti studied at Columbia University where she received a B.A. in Sociology before receiving her master’s degree in Communications at the University of Miami in Television Broadcast News.
A multi-award winner, she won a Southwest Regional Emmy for Spot News/Continuing Coverage as well as a New Mexico Associated Press Award for Breaking News. She is also a 3 time Electronic Media Award Nominee.
Beyond being a part of our news team, she is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
When Ashanti is not covering the news, she finds time to try new restaurants, cook, dance, or play with her three dogs.
