The Dallas Cowboys' Sunday loss to the Philadelphia Eagles killed the teams chance for the playoffs. The defeat also killed the spirit of thousands of fans.

"I was wearing a Marion Barber jersey, and about halftime, I took it off," said Sam Jackson, a Haltom City resident and lifelong Cowboys' fan. "The game hurt my feelings."

"We beat the Eagles the first time around. Why couldn't we have done it again? Beats me. Maybe it is the December curse," said Brittany Wolff, of Arlington.

The 44-6 loss now has fans playing general manager.

Eddie McDonald said he watched the Sunday's game and couldn't believe it. The Grand Prairie resident has been a Cowboys' fan for more than 20 years. He said he thinks the problem starts and ends with head coach Wade Phillips.

"I don't think they respect him," he said. "I think to be a leader, you have to to demand respect."

Other fans said they think the team's most visible player is the biggest distraction.

"You have to get rid of Terrell Owens," Shane Teague, of Arlington, said. "T.O. stands for "team obliterator."

Whatever the Cowboys decide to do will depend on owner Jerry Jones. Whatever he decides, loyal fans say, they'll back the team once the season starts again next year.

"Everybody is so quick to throw somebody under the bus, but you got to give them time to work together," Teague said.

  • bgc Tuesday, Dec 30 at 1:26 PM FLAG COMMENT good solid leadership makes all of the difference. the entire coaching staff needs to be replaced along with a few players that are notorious for negative behavior! there is a reason the t.o.'s past teams want nothing to do with him---the guy has problems!
  • sad cowboy Tuesday, Dec 30 at 12:49 PM FLAG COMMENT if wade phippilps has to re-invent the wheel and can't find the passion to coach this team it says a lot about his character. step down and hit the pasture you need to retire.
  • Brian Tuesday, Dec 30 at 11:11 AM FLAG COMMENT After analyzing them all season, I think the achilles heel for the Cowboys was the offensive line. They didn't provide enough protection for plays to develop. Romo was on the run or on his back most of the season. And don't get me started about the numerous "false starts" on Colombo (DUMBO) and Flozell Adams... ridiculous! Fix the line, everything else falls into place.
  • Phildephia Eagles Tuesday, Dec 30 at 9:48 AM FLAG COMMENT Fire the owner, management and coach! Fire the cancer known as TO!
  • bigcabba Tuesday, Dec 30 at 9:26 AM FLAG COMMENT Jerry Jones thinks that he can buy a Superbowl ring...we have a great group of players minus TO...get rid of wade and TO and the rest should fall into place...Williams hasn't had the time to get in to rythym w/ Romo injuries and TO's big mouth cryin' when he doesn't get hte ball...plus ever since Jones called out Barber he hasn't played w/ the same heart...anyone w/ the GM track record Jones has would have been fired years ago ...
