This Guy Thinks A&M Will Turn Things Around

Denton Ryan tackle gives word to Aggies

I hate to state the obvious, but for the past four years or so, the Texas A&M football program has been a bit of a laughing stock.

Former Green Bay Packers head coach, and A&M assistant, Mike Sherman was brought on board a couple of years back to right the ship in College Station and the reaction was a mixed one. The only thing Aggies agreed on was that Coach Fran had to go.

But Denton Ryan tackle Garrett Gramling thinks Sherman is the answer in College Station, as he orally committed to play football at Texas A&M after attending the Aggies' spring game over the weekend, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.

Gramling was the fourth offensive line recruit for the Class of 2010 to commit to Sherman & Co., following fellow four-star recruit Luke Joeckel's (Arlington) committment on the previous day, which Gramling referenced in Jeff Andrews' story.

Gramling is quite the beast. At 6 foot 6 inches, 305 pounds, the big tackle provided a vacuum-tight pocket for record-setting quarterback Scotty Young to throw from this past season, and will look to do the same this year for the Raiders. Young might have been sacked a handful of times throughout the entire season as Gramling was his blindside protector.

Gramling will head to A&M after his senior year after leaving offers on the table from Texas Tech, Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Personally, I think Gramling's game seems to fit most with an offense like Texas Tech's or Arizona's with a wide-open passing offense where he doesn't have to get a three-point stance, but we'll see if I'm right.
