Canadian Beats Mart 38-7 For 1A D-1 Title

Brandon Robinson passed for 271 yards and five touchdowns to lead Canadian past Mart 38-7 in the Class 1A Division I state championship game.

The win yesterday is the second straight state title for the 13-1 Wildcats, who won the 2A Division II title in 2007. Mart won the 2A Division II crown in 2006 and is now 4-3 in state championship games. It finishes at 12-3.

All three of Robinson's second-half scoring passes came on fourth-down plays as the Wildcats broke open a close game with 24 points after halftime.

Robinson had touchdown passes of 28 and 71 yards to Alex Reyes and a 14-yarder to twin brother Danny Reyes.

The junior quarterback also passed to Linzy Prager for a 35-yard score and to Clint Cockrell for a 13-yard TD.

Alex Reyes finished with six catches for 158 yards, while Danny Reyes carried seven times for 44 yards to lead Canadian on the ground.

Danny Reyes had two interceptions as Canadian held Mart to 29 yards on 24 second-half plays.

Mart's only score came in the second quarter when quarterback Xavier Williams completed an 11-yard pass to Ryan Montgomery. Williams passed for 113 yards and ran for 36 to account for all of Mart's total offense.
