Going Once, Going Twice, Sold for MDA!

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is gearing up for its third Telethon Online Auction in the DFW area.

The auction will be in collaboration with the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. It goes “live” on Sept. 1 and bidding will end Sept. 15, 2009.

Items already donated include concert tickets, gym memberships, jewelry from David Yurman and James Avery, Six Flags tickets, weekend getaways, autographed baseballs from Nolan Ryan, Josh Hamilton and Alex Rodriguez, as well as a plethora of gift cards and other items.

Auction items can be viewed or donated by visiting www.goMDAauction.com.

After raising $60,000 in 2007 and $70,000 in 2008, MDA officials are hoping for yet another increase.

The funds raised enable MDA to provide the very best in patient care and services, including clinic visits, orthopedic equipment, support groups and a worldwide research effort seeking treatments and cures for the 43 neuromuscular diseases.

MDA will continue to receive items until the auction ends. However, those who donate earlier will receive more exposure.

All donors and sponsors have the opportunity to have their company’s Web site linked to the auction site, which will be e-mailed to more than 20,000 unique e-mail addresses, seen by 100,000 “Bidding for Good” participants, linked to the MDA National Online Auction.

Sonic, KXAS NBC 5 and Citgo among others are sponsoring this year’s auction.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors.
