Colin Powell to Speak at Genesis Women's Luncheon

Join NBC 5 and the Genesis Women’s Shelter for the 19th Annual Genesis Women’s Luncheon featuring General Colin L. Powell, U.S.A. (Ret.) The luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 26, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas.

A man of supreme intelligence, versatility and presence, Gen. Powell served as the first African-American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was appointed Secretary of State by President George W. Bush becoming, at that time, the most powerful African-American ever to hold office. A four-star general, Gen. Powell's numerous awards include two Presidential Medals of Freedom and he is a best-selling author.

The Genesis Women’s Luncheon is an opportunity for the community to join together to break the cycle of violence for future generations. For twenty-five years, Genesis Women's Shelter has been committed to providing quality safety and shelter to battered women and their children through crisis intervention and short-term therapeutics.
