Celebrate Valentine's Day in September

Join the Second Chance SPCA

Did you know that Valentine’s Day falls in September this year? It will at the Second Chance SPCA in Plano on September 15th. Come out that Saturday any time between noon and 5 p.m. and you’ll be able to adopt a pet!

The event is named after Valentine, a dog that gave birth to five puppies in an animal shelter after she was found at a gas station. Dan Greer, the man who found her, tried to adopt them, but was told only five dogs could be adopted at one time. Though the dogs were scheduled to be euthanized on February 14th, Second Chance SPCA was able to rescue them the day before and place them into foster families that took care of them until they were old enough to be adopted.

If you would like to meet Valentine and her pups, they and their families will meet for a reunion at the event from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Staffed completely by volunteers, Second Chance SPCA’s mission is to rescue dogs and cats from municipal shelters that are kill-facilities. Over the last six years, they have adopted out 2,163 pets to forever homes. For more information, please visit www.scspca.org.
