Sam's Story Gets National Attention

Sam Gladen underwent deep brain stimulation surgery while he was awake.

The choice was stark: Either allow a once-active young boy’s body to continue to deteriorate painfully, or let a surgeon try a risky brain procedure that could cure him, cause further damage — or kill him.

NBC 5 profiled Sam Gladen's battle with dystonia and now Sam's story is getting national attention.

The Gladen family appeared on the Today Show to talk about Sam's struggle, surgery and success. Unfortunately the segment was preempted in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. You can watch the segment in its entirety here:
