Meteorologist Jennifer Lopez joined NBC 5 in June 2008, and can be seen on NBC 5 Today weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Lopez comes to NBC 5 with a depth of network level weather forecasting experience earned at The Weather Channel since 2000. Previously, Lopez worked as a weekend meteorologist at WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Fla., and as a weather producer and weekend meteorologist at WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Lopez, a native of St. Augustine, Fla., earned a Bachelor's Degree in telecommunications from the University of Florida and a Bachelor's Degree in meteorology from Florida State University. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the AMS Television Seal of Approval.
David Finfrock, NBC 5's Chief Meteorologist, says, "Jennifer is a terrific addition to the team. Her experience, first in her home state of Florida, and then with national forecasting and reporting at The Weather Channel, makes Jennifer the perfect choice for forecasting North Texas' varied weather."
North Texas, and Tarrant County in particular, is a destination for Jennifer for personal reasons. Her husband, a Southwest Airlines pilot, is currently on military leave in charge of relocating a Navy DC-9 squadron from Atlanta to Fort Worth. The couple has two daughters.
