Ellen Goldberg is an award-winning general assignment reporter who joined the NBC 5 news team in March 2007. Ellen currently covers the Dallas Police Department for NBC 5. She can be seen weeknights at 10pm at the scene of some of the most important stories affecting North Texans.

Ellen has made a name for herself with a number of exclusive reports since joining KXAS. The story she is most proud of; the first sit-down interview with Dallas Police Chief David Brown after his son killed two people, including a police officer. Ellen also broke the story of an SMU student who was kidnapped and raped in 2009.
Ellen graduated cum laude from Tulane University, majoring in communication and minoring in Sociology. She also spent a semester studying Journalism at American University while interning for NBC News in Washington, D.C.
Ellen began her career as a reporter and anchor in Meridian, MS. From there she moved to WECT-TV in Wilmington, N.C.. Before moving to Dallas, Ellen was the weekend anchor and an investigative reporter for KOAT–TV in Albuquerque, N.M.
Among many honors, Ellen has been nominated for a general assignment reporting award from the Lone Star Emmy's. The New Mexico Associated Press and the New Mexico Broadcasters Association recognized Ellen for breaking news coverage and investigative reporting. She was also part of 2 news teams that won prestigious Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards.
As the first reporter at the scene when Jennifer Wilbanks, the runaway bride, turned up in Albuquerque, Ellen provided reports for CNN, ABC News and television stations across the country. Since moving to Dallas, Ellen also traveled to New Orleans Mardi Gras and Hurricane Dolly for NBC News.
Ellen is originally from Mobile, AL, where her family still lives. When she's not working, Ellen enjoys traveling, dining and running. She ran 3 half-marathons in the past year, Dallas, New Orleans and New York City.
