Chris Van Horne joined the NBC 5 news team in January 2011 as a video journalist covering the city of Fort Worth.
Chris comes to North Texas from California's Central Valley where he spent five years in Bakersfield working as a videojournalist and anchor where he specialized in covering politics and government. Most notably he covered the 2007 wildfires in Southern California and had a sit down interview during the 2005 California special election with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Chris was recognized by the Kern County Press Club in 2006 for coverage of Spot News for a fire that destroyed more than a dozen apartments which left several families homeless.
Chris graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science. While in Missouri he covered the state legislature and political scene, including the 2004 governor's race and presidential election.
Chris enjoys telling stories that impact the community and looks forward to telling the stories about the people and events in Fort Worth.
