Amanda Guerra anchors NBC 5 News weekend evenings, Saturday at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and also reports.
Before joining in June 2011, Amanda was a reporter/fill-in anchor for three and a half years in Oklahoma City.
Amanda quickly became the “go-to” reporter at her station, covering everything from breaking news, to long-form investigation pieces and, of course, chasing tornadoes.
Amanda’s most memorable moment was when she found herself parked on the side of the highway, just miles away from a massive EF-4 tornado that wiped out portions of the town of Lone Grove, Oklahoma.
Eight people died and for several hours, Amanda was the only reporter in town covering the massive devastation.
A Dallas native, Amanda is a proud graduate of Ursuline Academy, but don’t expect her to wear burnt orange during college football season.
Amanda received her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma and is known for blasting "Boomer Sooner" on game day.
When she’s not at work, Amanda loves trying out new restaurants, running on the Katy Trail and taking her “Gollie” (Golden Retriever/Collie), Walt, to the dog park.
