Unwitting Cabbie Used as Getaway Driver: Police

Fort Worth police have arrested on man in connection with a convenience store robbery early Thursday morning where an unwitting taxi cab driver was employed as a getaway driver.

According to police, shortly after 4 a.m. a man walked into a Shell station on the 4900 block of Bryant Irvin Road and gave the clerk a note saying he was armed and would shoot her if she didn't hand over the money.

The man then left in the taxi and, according to police, directed the driver to take him to a QT gas station on Alta Mere.

When they arrived at the gas station, two Fort Worth police officers who were aware of the earlier robbery took the passenger into custody.

The name of the passenger has not yet been released.

Police said the cab driver didn't know he was being used as a getaway driver and is not expected to face any charges.
