UT Tower Replica Lands Car Wash in Hot Water

A replica of the famed 307-foot-tall University of Texas tower has landed an Austin-area car wash operator in hot water.

UT officials are claiming potential trademark violations with the 60-foot-tall structure at Tower Car Wash in Cedar Park. The car wash opened this month.

Owner and Longhorns fan Bob Tesch says he just wanted to create something interesting and inspirational. Tesch, who attended UT, says he's a proud alum.

UT's Craig Westemeier says they're working with the car wash on possible design changes for the towering replica.

UT says the campus tower is the school's most distinguishing landmark and is a symbol of academic excellence and personal opportunity.
