Travis County ADA Charged With DWI 4 Months After Boss Plead Guilty

Austin police have charged a Travis County assistant district attorney with driving while intoxicated four months after his boss plead guilty to the same crime.

District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg said Tuesday that Brandon Grunewald will be prosecuted by the Travis County Attorney's Office for misdemeanor DWI.

That same office prosecuted Lehmberg for DWI in April. She pleaded guilty April 15 and served a jail sentence. Gov. Rick Perry called on her to resign and cut funding to the state's corruption watchdog that operates from her office.

Austin police arrested Grunewald on Sunday after he appeared drunk following a minor accident. He refused to take a breath test, so police conducted a blood test.

Lehmberg said it was too early to make a decision on Grunewald's future with the office.
