Texas DPS Trooper Seizes More Than $716,000 in Marijuana

Seized marijuana has a street value of more than $700,000

Two people were arrested during a traffic stop near Amarillo Wednesday after a state trooper discovered more than 118 pounds of marijuana worth more than $700,000 in the trunk.

A DPS trooper stopped the driver of a 2014 Hyundai Elantra along Interstate 40 near Amarillo in Potter County for a traffic violation, the DPS said.

During a search of the vehicle, the trooper discovered the marijuana in the trunk of the car.

Two people in the vehicle, identitifed as Teuta Hajdini, 31, of Dearborn, Michigan and Adelina Dedvukai, 27, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, were believed to be transporting the drugs from Tempe, Arizona to Dearborn.

The pair were placed under arrest for possession and delivery of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Potter County Jail.

The DPS said the marijuana has a street value of more than $716,000.
