Thousands of Central Texas residents have received Christmas and New Year's greetings from their state senator -- this month.

"Hope you had an extra special Christmas holiday season," Sen. Jeff Wentworth said in a winter legislative newsletter mailed to his constituents last week.

Wentworth told the Austin American-Statesman the six-page mailing was supposed to go out Jan. 2 but got sent by mistake last week to about 100,000 people in his 25th district. Some were able to be retrieved for proper delivery in January but constituents in San Marcos, Wimberley and South Austin received theirs now.

Wentworth says his office got a call from someone who wanted to know if he had an accurate calendar.
