The Tarrant County medical examiner was called to a gated neighborhood in northwest Tarrant County Tuesday after someone called to report they'd found a human skull.
The skull was found in a wooded area along the 7200-block of LaCantera near Lakeside, not far from state Highway 199 Jacksboro Highway south of Azle.
Officials said the skull appears to be at least several years old and probably pre-dates the nearby neighborhood, but they wouldn't say much else about the find.
Investigators with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department are investigating the find with the medical examiner.
