One designer based in the United Kingdom, Flora Davis, decided to take clumps of fur from her freshly groomed cat, form it into “pearls,” and rope it together, Wired reports.

For Davis, it takes anywhere from one to three months to collect the fur and roll it all together.

Davis said the idea first struck her when her hairy feline companion had hairballs gather around her apartment. "The balls had a lovely appearance that reminded me of oversized white pearls," Davis told Wired.

"This was my inspiration for using Gaia’s ‘toys’ in a way that would display my love for this special cat.”

The necklaces start at $95 and go up to $280, and Davis promises she has necklaces for all occasions. No guarantee on whether your date will be impressed that there’s clotted fur around your neck.
