Anniversaries in Jail for Manslaughter

A Texas Panhandle man who ran over and killed his girlfriend must serve probation and spend the next 10 anniversaries of her death in jail.

A judge in Amarillo on Tuesday sentenced 45-year-old Michael Paul Buse of Amarillo.

Buse pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 26-year-old Dairy Strout. Investigators believe the couple argued before the woman was run over and died last Oct. 10.

Buse has been sentenced to 10 years' probation, plus must serve 120 days in jail. The jail time began Tuesday with a 111-day term.

A judge also ordered Buse to spend a day in jail each Oct. 10 for the next nine years to mark the anniversary of Strout's death.
