Haltom City Puppy Found in Suspended Cage

Concerned neighbors called the Haltom City Police Department and Animal Services multiple times on July 1 after finding a puppy outside in a suspended cage.

Haltom City police said the became aware of the incident on Elton Street when someone noticed the puppy inside of a dog cage, suspended from the side of a house.

Haltom City police and Animal Services were called to the home three times on July 1, but police said when they spoke to the owner, the dog was found to be healthy and well fed.

The dog owner told police that the dog was suspended in the cage because the homeowner had been spraying pesticide on the ground. The owner felt the dog needed to be off the ground and believed this was a viable solution to the situation, according to police.

The Haltom City Police Department thanks those who brought this incident to their attention, and plan to follow up with the owner.
