Florida Man Broke and Ran Over Neighbor's Mailbox Over Errand Delay: Deputies

“If you gonna put on a show you’ve got to do it good,” Nicholas Katsanis, 52, said when an Indian River County Sheriff Deputy asked about the mailbox incident.

A Florida man broke his Vero Beach neighbor’s mailbox, threw the mail in his yard and then ran over the mailbox with his bicycle twice because he was angry that an errand was taking too long, the sheriff’s office said.

“If you gonna put on a show you’ve got to do it good,” the man, Nicholas Katsanis, 52, said when an Indian River County Sheriff Deputy asked about the mailbox incident.

According to his Dec. 8 arrest report, Katsanis was upset after his neighbor took 45 minutes to go to the store for him.

Another neighbor called to tell the mailbox owner that Katsanis had broken the mailbox by pushing it back and forth, the report said.

The neighbor also said Katsanis had thrown all of the mail in the yard and then threw the mailbox in the street, according to the report. Katsanis then used his bicycle to run over the mailbox twice, the report said.

Katsanis told the deputy that he was upset because the neighbor would not answer his phone calls. He said he regretted the incident and offered to pay for the mailbox, the report said.

Katsanis was arrested for criminal mischief. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
