Dad and Daughter Make Up After Laptop Shooting

"I have a great daughter," dad said.

A North Carolina father and his daughter have made up after he fired nine shots into her laptop as punishment for a rant she posted to Facebook.

The Jordan family appeared Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show, where Tommy Jordan said he had a "great daughter" and admitted he wasn’t proud of the laptop massacre, but still stands by it.

The sharpshooting dad had posted a YouTube video in which he emptied nine “exploding hollow-point” rounds into his 15-year-old daughter Hannah’s laptop after she wrote an expletive-filled Facebook rant accusing her parents of making her do too many chores. Her father’s response, “Facebook Parenting: For the troubled teen,” went viral on Facebook and YouTube, with over 31 million views on the video-sharing website.

An instant poll on Today.com showed that 72 percent of readers found the shooting “appropriate,” while 10 percent called it abuse. But talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw said on “Today,” “You never, ever humiliate your child publically.”

Jordan fired back, calling Dr. Phil a hypocrite in another YouTube video.

“You do realize that, not all but a large majority of the premise of your show is you bringing troubled kids on and troubled teens, parents and all age groups and publically humiliating them in front of the entire world for profit, right?” Jordan asked from his now famous backyard chair.

On the “Today” show, Jordan had one more surprise for his daughter @font-face { font-family: "MS 明朝"; }@font-face { font-family: "Cambria Math"; }@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; }.MsoChpDefault { font-family: Cambria; }div.WordSection1 { page: WordSection1; }— who is still grounded and laptop-less — he saved her computer's hard drive where her photos and other data were stored.

“Fair enough?” he asked, offering it to her.
