UT Group Gets $745K from Feds for Clean Energy

A group at the University of Texas at Austin has been awarded $745,000 in federal funds to help small businesses and entrepreneurs promote clean energy.

The U.S. Department of Energy on Friday announced $3.2 million to launch the National Incubator Initiative for Clean Energy. Funds are also being shared by groups in Michigan, Illinois and California.

The money earmarked for UT's Austin Technology Incubator will be used to form the Southwest Regional Clean Energy Incubation Initiative. The network will support entrepreneurs in Texas and New Mexico.

Officials say the group will offer tools such as facilities for testing and prototyping technologies.
