Network Hacked: Indiana Medical Software Company

A Fort Wayne, Indiana-based medical software company says it's notifying patients of health care providers that their private information may have been exposed when networks were hacked.

Medical Informatics Engineering said Wednesday that the attack on its main network and its NoMoreClipboard network began May 7 and wasn't detected until May 26.

Chief Operating Officer Eric Jones said in a telephone interview the number of affected patients hasn't been determined and he declined to speculate how many there might be.

He says the exposed information includes names, addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers and health records.

The company's clients include Texas-based Concentra, Franciscan St. Francis Health Indianapolis, and Rochester Medical Group in the Detroit area.

The company created a toll-free call center at 866-328-1987.

The FBI is investigating the attack.
