An early celebration supposedly doomed the Miami Heat in Game 2 of these NBA Finals.

Early planning for a celebration might just doom the Miami Heat for the balance of these NBA Finals.

According to a blog post at the Dallas Morning News, it seems that a “nationwide special event firm” placed a Craigslist ad for sales help related to a parade — “likely dates: June 11 (win in 5), June 14 (win in 6), June 16 (win in 7)” — and celebration in honor of the Miami Heat’s 2011 NBA championship.

Well now, we know how that works, don’t we? Yes, Laura Miller, that question was directed at you.

Remember back in 2006 after the Mavs took a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals against the Heat, the city of Dallas released the championship parade route? The basketball gods raised up, said, “Oh, no, not so fast there, Mayor Optimism,” and slapped us with a 2-4 Miami series win.

Miami now taunts those same basketball gods the way LeBron James taunts defenders.

Spendid.
