Young, Murphy Leave Surprise

David Murphy was hanging by a thread before reporting to Surprise, Ariz., for Rangers Spring Training over the weekend. His wife was due to have their first son any day, but she held out in time for him to report with the rest of the Rangers.

But early in the morning Wednesday, she finally had the couple's first child, a 6-pound, 14-ounce baby boy named Cole, and Murphy was able to get back to DFW in time for the birth as he left camp on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Richard Durrett.

The Rangers expect Murphy back in camp at some point this weekend as long as everything remains fine on the homefront.

Michael Young, on the other hand, might have drawn some more interest with the headlines "Young leaves camp" due to his off-season squabble with management, but it's nothing.

Young will leave camp after the team's workout today, be out Thursday and Friday and is set to return on Saturday, said the Star-Telegram's Anthony Andro. He's leaving to attend to personal, family matters. So don't read into it.

Looks like both will be back in time to play in the Rangers' first exhibition game on Sunday against the Royals, a game C.J. Wilson is scheduled to start.

It's almost time, folks. Buckle up.
