Williams Hits Game-Winner; Texas Tech Beats Oklahoma State

Devaugntah Williams made a game-winning 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to lead Texas Tech to a 63-62 win against Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Williams converted a three-point play and then hit two free throws on Texas Tech's next possession for a 60-56 lead with 1:06 left. Oklahoma State scored the next six points, capped by Jeffrey Carroll's 3-pointer, to make it 62-60 with 18 seconds remaining.

The Cowboys missed a layup and a 3-pointer in the final moments of the game.

Toddrick Gotcher led Texas Tech (13-17, 3-14 Big 12) with 17 points. The Red Raiders trailed 31-17 at halftime.

Le'Bryan Nash scored 19 for Oklahoma State (17-11, 7-9). Michael Cobbins had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Carroll, who finished with 12 points, hit a 3-pointer to give the Cowboys a 48-47 advantage with 8:05 left for their first lead since there was 5:57 left in the first half.

The Red Raiders were in the game because of an excellent close to the first half. They started 3 of 20 from the field in the period but made seven of their final eight shots. The offensive outburst led them to an 11-0 run over the final 1:18 and take a 31-17 lead at halftime.

TIP-INS

Oklahoma State: Phil Forte had his first scoreless game of the season, finishing 0 for 4 from the field in 24 minutes. He also fouled out with 1:39 remaining. "He just had a tough game today," Cowboys coach Travis Ford said. "You always need your best player to play well, but that's not going to happen every game."

Texas Tech: With Saturday's win, the Red Raiders likely need to win the Big 12 tournament to avoid finishing the season below .500. Red Raiders coach Tubby Smith has finished with a losing record just once in his 24-season career: last season, when the Red Raiders finished 14-18.
