Who's On, Who's Not?: April 22

In a weekly staple, we'll discuss who's in a groove and who's in a rut for the Texas Rangers.

Who's On?

Prince Fielder โ€” Once again, Prince finds himself on this list as it appears he's making up for lost time last season when he played just more than 40 games before hitting the shelf after cervical fusion surgery in his neck. Over his last five games, Fielder is hitting .350 with a .409 on-base percentage and a team-high five RBIs. Oh, and he finally hit that first homer of the year on Tuesday night. On the year, he's hitting .386 with a .435 on-base and a team-high nine RBIs.

Leonys Martin โ€” In his last five games, Martin is batting .400 with three doubles and three RBIs after a horrid start to the season. He's done enough to be elevated back to the Rangers' leadoff spot and he's scored four runs in that five-game stretch.

Nick Martinez โ€” Even though he allowed his first earned run of the season after 15 innings this year on Tuesday night, he's still been the star of the Rangers' rotation with a 2-0 record and a 0.45 ERA in 20 innings of work.

Who's Off?

Ross Detwiler โ€” Somehow, most likely because there are no other viable options, Detwiler will get another chance to start for the Rangers after three disastrous starts. In his last start, he couldn't make it out of the third and couldn't capitalize on seven-run outburst from the Rangers' offense. On the season, he's sporting a 10.95 ERA and has allowed 25 hits in 12 1/3 innings. Wrap your brain around that.

Rougned Odor โ€” The young second baseman has yet to find his stroke from last season when he suprisingly held his own in the bigs despite playing well above his level as the youngest player in the majors. Over his past five games, Odor is just 1-for-18, but he did manage a couple of RBIs.
