Corey Nelson became the second Dallas Skyline LB to commit to Texas A&M.
OK, the headline is obviously sarcasm.
Dallas Skyline outside linebacker Corey Nelson committed on Sunday afternoon to play football at Texas A&M, according to The Dallas Morning News.
That makes Nelson the second Skyline linebacker to commit to A&M and the ninth Raider to commit to a Division I school, or "Football Bowl Subdivision" school, whatever you want to call them.
He joins his fellow outside backer, Domonique Patterson, who committed to the Aggies back in March.
Oral committments are non-binding. The first day a Class of 2010 recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 3.
Nelson had a tremendous junior season for Skyline, who went 12-2 and lost in the state quarterfinals to Round Rock Stony Point. The 6 foot, 210-pound linebacker was a first-team all-state selection by the Associated Press with an unreal 156 tackles, including 19 behind the line of scrimmage. He also added 12 sacks, three fumble recoveries and four pass breakups.
According to recruiting Web site Rivals.com, Nelson is the 39th-ranked linebacker in the country, and third third-best outside linebacker.
It'll really be a shock if Skyline doesn't make it to at least the Class 5A state quarterfinals like they did last year with the well of talent the Raiders have on both sides of the ball. Nine big-time recruits? Nine! Yeah, that's right.
