What Can We Expect From Josh Hamilton in 2016?

Josh Hamilton was a gift from the Los Angeles Angels in April, even with the idea that he is nowhere near the player he was in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 with the Texas Rangers.

In 2016, the Angels will pay every red cent of Hamilton's $25 million salary. In 2017, they pay all but $2 million of it, and Hamilton will be playing for the Rangers and trying to defend their AL West title against those Angels.

But, what can we expect from him?

At this point, it's clear he's never going to sniff the numbers he put up in the glory years with the Rangers. He's aging, his bat's a tick slower and most importantly, he just can't stay healthy as his body has lived a hard life and is beginning to break down.

Will Hamilton play in 80 games in 2016? Maybe 100? Maybe 115 or 120? The answer is unknown, but you have to wonder what a whole offseason in Texas' training program and without the vast amount of drama he was a part of last winter will do for him.

Time will tell, but one thing is for sure, Hamilton will be a key figure in the Rangers' lineup in 2016, and the Rangers will be paying for every bit of it.
