Webb Back on the Mound Sunday

Brandon Webb is scheduled to pitch off a mound for the first time in 10 days Sunday.

The Texas Rangers wanted Webb to build up arm strength before getting back on the mound again after a short bullpen session during the first workout of spring training.

The right-hander hasn't pitched in a major league game since the 2009 season opener for Arizona because of shoulder surgery.

Webb said Saturday that he had "a real good week" and can see a "huge difference" in how his arm feels after a week in which he threw off flat ground and longer distances.

Texas could use Webb in a rotation that lost Cliff Lee, another former Cy Young Award winner.

Webb is still hopeful he can be ready for the start of the season.
