The NBA wants to protect fans and let them know how to make sure the merchandise they buy is not counterfeit.
Customers are advisted to look for the hologram sticker or a sewn-in label to identify the item has been authorized by the NBA.
The league is recommending customers avoid purchasing items from questionable sources, such as street vendors and flea markets. Shoppers should buy from authorized retail locations, such as the NBA Store inside the NBA Jam Session.
The Jam Session is being held at the Dallas County Convention Center.
The NBA will be working closely with state and local officials to identify counterfeit merchandise.
"We're prepared with the law enforcement authorities to ensure that fans are getting the items that are real, which is very important during NBA All-Star, which is our premier event over the course of the year for our fans," NBA spokesman Brian Keegan said.
The All-Star Game is Sunday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
