Washout: NASCAR Races Resume at 11 a.m.

Mother Nature put a damper on race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Wet weather postponed Sunday's Samsung Mobile 500 Spring Cup Series race, as well as the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 Nationwide Series race. The Nationwide event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was put off because of rain.

Fans with tickets for either race can watch both Monday. The Samsung Mobile 500 starts at 11 a.m., and the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 will begin at 4 p.m.

"It was the fan-friendly thing to do in terms of allowing our fans with either ticket to stay for both races," said Eddie Gossage, TMS president. "The weathe has inconvenicenced all of them, and for those who are able to tay, they may as well enjoy 801 miles of NASCAR racing."

Gossage said he expects TMS will be able to accomodate everyone with tickets and hopes fans with identical seats can work it out and find nearby seats.

The persistent rain is expected to come to an end Monday. It will be mostly cloudly with the sun peaking out late in the afternoon. (See the latest forecast here.)

Gates will open at 9 a.m. Garages and the ticket office will open at 8 a.m.

A NASCAR event at TMS has been run on Monday one other time in the track's 14-year history, when the Samsung/RadioShack 500 was run on April 8, 2002.
