A Kaufman County judge rules that this weekend's Warrior Dash can take place, with a few tweaks.

Organizers of the Warrior Dash are scrambling to make changes to the event after a court challenge from Kaufman County.

Runners that signed up for the Warrior Dash in Forney will maneuver through a mud pit, a fire pit and climb hills of hay, but the biggest obstacle for organizers was in the courtroom.

Kaufman County filed an injunction against the race after organizers did not secure the proper permits. But Judge Erleigh Norville Wiley ruled Tuesday night that the race can continue with certain stipulations.

She said no more than 2,499 race participants can be on the race site at one time for more than five hours. Organizers needed a mass-gathering permit -- which was denied -- to have more people.

Also, the organizers must set up a staging area to bus runners to and from the race site.

"I think it's reasonable what the court is requiring," said Michael Cramer, an attorney for Red Frog LLC, the event organizer. "They're limiting the amount of people that can be there for a five-hour period."

Wiley told organizers she would haul them back into court if her requirements were not met.

Dallas County officials also denied the race organizers a mass-gathering permit. But attorneys for the Warrior Dash said organizers don't need one because crews will keep crowds to fewer than 2,500.
