Vital Ranger Undergoes Elbow Surgery

One of the most important Rangers is recovering from elbow surgery.

That is, if you consider Jeff Banister a key piece to the team’s puzzle.

Banister on Monday underwent surgery on his right elbow after a career of throwing baseballs had resulted in painful bone chips and a spur that limited his ability to throw batting practice. He’ll begin rehab immediately in hopes of being able to throw BP early in the season, if not during spring training in Surprise, Arizona.

Granted the Rangers are more concerned with the healing arms of Yu Darvish and Derek Holland. But having a happy, healthy skipper can’t hurt the team’s chemistry as it begins a quest to repeat as AL West champs in 2016.
