Unlike Some Of Us, Dez Has Moved On From Controversial Non-Catch

I’ve probably watched Dez Bryant’s catch-non-catch 30 times. Which, apparently, is 30 times more than he has.

It took me awhile, but I’ve come to grips with the replay official in Green Bay turning the Cowboys’ receiver’s miraculous catch into a fatal incompletion. Still think he caught the ball. Still think the Cowboys would have beaten the Packers and played the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. And still …

Let’s don’t get riled up all over again. Because while we may have found some semblance of flawed peace over the call, Bryant claims he still can’t force himself to watch the play.

“I’ll watch it, I’ll see the catch and, as I’m coming down, I never watch the whole play. I turn it off,” Bryant told reporters at training camp in Oxnard. “That’s true.”

In the wake of the call, the NFL this offseason tweaked the wording of the rule. For a completion, a receiver must now establish himself as a runner. At the time of Dez’s non-catch, the rule merely stated that the player had to make a “football move.” I still think Bryant did both.

Maybe I’ll watch it for a 31st time just to make sure.

“I let it go,” Bryant said. “I dwelled on it for a whole month. It’s out of my system.”

Apparently that’s easier for some than others.
