Tyron Smith Named 2nd Best Player Under 25 in ESPN Ranking

As you might have noticed, the Dallas Cowboys have drafted some good young offensive linemen of recent.

The remodel job up front started in 2011, when they took Tyron Smith out of USC with the 9th overall pick of the draft to be their left tackle of the future. In 2013, it was center Travis Frederick out of Wisconsin and, last year, right guard Zack Martin out of Notre Dame.

According to a recent ranking by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Mike Sando, all three first rounders are among the Top 25 players in the league under the age of 25--and Smith is the second best of that bunch, behind only Raiders second-year linebacker Khalil Mack.

“Every aspect of the position appears to be a strength for Smith,” Kiper wrote about Smith, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s technically sound and physically lean and long-armed; he’s savvy enough to set up opponents and athletic enough to pull on the perimeter; he’s devastating as a finisher and patient as a pass-protector. Smith has, on occasion, driven defenders off the all-22 video screen entirely. Smith also plays a position of importance, putting him in the running for the top spot. He looks like a Hall of Fame talent.”
