In a display of support for United States servicemen and women both locally and around the world, Tiger Woods and Tony Romo each stuffed a USO care package this morning before teeing off at the AT&T National Earl Woods Memorial Pro-Am in Bethesda, Maryland.

Golfers (pro and amateur), sponsors and guests will all have the opportunity to stuff a care package of their own at the USO tent on the third green.

The initiative is sponsored by Lockheed Martin, who is also the military sponsor of the tournament, which will wrap up on Sunday at the Congressional Country Club.

The aerospace manufacturer is hosting 30,000 servicemen, women and family members at the event.

“The USO is honored to be a part of such an amazing and nationally-known event, and we thank Lockheed Martin for making this all possible,” said Sloan Gibson, USO president.  “Tiger Woods’ recognition of troops’ service and sacrifice is important, and we are proud to help the AT&T National bring morale-boosting activities to local service members, and more essential support to those stationed overseas.”

The USO Care Package program was established in 2003 and has delivered over 1.6 million care packages to soldiers around the world since. Care packages include a wide array of items, ranging from every-day necessities such as hand sanitizer, wet wipes and sunscreen to comfort items such as non-perishable snacks, drinks and playing cards.

Each package also includes a personal letter of support from its donor.

USO Care Packages range in value between $50 and $75, but can be donated for as little as $25 at the tournament, or at the USO Operation Care Package's website.
