Texas Motor Speedway Crowds Create Traffic Congestion

The first night NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday drew quite a crowd and is sure to create traffic congestion in the area after the race.

"I was amazed at how many people were here," said Euless resident, Craig Oatman.

Oatman was just one of many first-time Nascar-goers to duck out of the race a bit early to beat the crowds out of the area.

"Probably a little earlier than that," he said.  "They were only on like lap 69 and they have 270 to go."

Road crews already put up electronic signs on roads around the Texas Motor Speedway informing drivers of traffic patterns as they leave the area after the race.  Some fans, however, won't  have to fight any traffic headaches.

"Oh no, I'm taking the trolley back to the tent," said Nascar fan, Destiny Garcia.  "I'm good."

Campers like Garcia may be the lucky ones out at the Speedway after the race as fans leave the area.  For Saturday night, she said, she'll leave the driving to the professionals.
