Texas High School Girls' Volleyball Reputation Grows

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is known for producing some of the top football talent in the nation, but high school girls’ volleyball is quickly earning a similar reputation.

One national poll ranked seven of the top-25 teams in the nation from the state of Texas, four of those from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

"You’re getting young women who are ridiculously good athletes taking their game very seriously and taking the sport to a different level,” Southlake Carroll volleyball coach Ryan Mitchell said.

“We have ten division one commits, it’s insane and it’s so much fun,” Southlake Carroll senior Haley Hallgren said. “Practices are always crazy.”

Tuesday night featured the top two teams in the state of Texas facing off, with Hebron traveling to Southlake Carroll in a district battle.

Hebron, ranked as high as fifth in the country, knocked off the ninth-ranked Dragons, 3-2.
